Is Maggie Sajak Replacing Vanna White?

Maggie Sajak is ready and raring to go for the Season 43 premiere of Wheel of Fortune on Sept. 8.

The 30-year-old social media correspondent for the long-running game show might be hyping the upcoming season, but she seems to also be hinting that she will one day be Vanna White‘s replacement when she retires.

Wearing a form-fitting red dress, Sajak, who is the daughter of retired Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak, twirled her way through the set. Playing Taylor Swift’s hit, “You Belong With Me,” she wrote on the video clip, “You look happier. Thanks, I’m back on set for Season 43.” She added in the caption, “September 8th can’t come soon enough.”

After her father retired, there were questions as to whether White would continue with new host Ryan Seacrest. That question was answered when she signed a new lucrative contract that takes her through the 2025-2026 television season. There were initially rumors that she and Seacrest struggled to get along, but they quickly shut down those rumors with a sizable ratings bump for Season 42.

White told TV Insider in May 2024 that she wasn’t going to put a time limit on her career — she’s going to take it year by year. “When I heard that Pat was retiring, I thought maybe I should retire too,” White explained. “But I’m not ready! We’ll see toward the end of those two years how I feel. I thank God after all these years that I still love my job.”

Sajak officially joined Wheel of Fortune as the show’s Social Correspondent in 2021, where she provides “access to backstage activity; interviews with players, celebrities, staff and crew; and sneak-peeks at upcoming events,” per the show’s website. She also fills in for White on an as-needed basis like the time in 2020 when her dad was out for surgery and White hosted the game, and she turned the letters.

It sounds like she wants to make Wheel of Fortune her permanent home if and when the opportunity arises. “The Wheel of Fortune staff and crew have always been like an extended family,” she said in her show biography. “And I’m thrilled to be working with them. It’s a real privilege to be able to treat the show’s longtime viewers to a look at what goes on when the cameras aren’t rolling.”
